Artisans: Local wine boutique offers great wines, cheeses…and you can even stop in for a sandwich!

In my usual Monday morning readings of online magazines, blogs and everything in between, I came across a wine boutique that is local, but  in location only. Larchmont Village Wine and Cheese is anything but local in its selections of wine, cheeses and even its sandwich menu.  Global taste with local ingredients seems a better way to describe this family owned and operated wine boutique that has been in business since 1995.  Known for their incredible selection and knowledge of wine, you can stop by and ask any question about their selection and be assured that Simon, "the sommelier of sommeliers" will probably have the answer.  If you are a collector or just need a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio for dinner, they offer everything from rare vintages to local favorites and "inexpensive but great finds"

Chef: Restaurant Review: The Petersham and the Fall and Rise of British cuisine

Let’s be honest, traditional British food hasn’t exactly enjoyed the best of reputations over the years. European visitors (especially the French) still love to gloat that our cuisine’s heritage amounts to nothing more than a greasy bag of chips, served with perhaps a meat pie or battered haddock. Our food culture still is the butt of many a European joke, even the Germans feel superior,...

Artisans: See the world from a chocolate point of view

Photo credit - "David Legget" (Flickr)   In search of the perfect chocolate, who isn’t?  Chocolate can be a variety of things to a variety of people.  It can range from an old fashioned Hershey’s milk chocolate bar to a dark chocolate truffle. The art of making chocolate varies in style but its method has remained relatively unchanged, unlike many other things in this world.  Those...
