The French Laundry is a gourmet, up-scale French restaurant in a small town near Napa Valley, CA called Yountville. Famed chef, Thomas Keller, has won multiple awards from the James Beard Foundation, notably the Best California Chef in 1996, and the Best Chef in America in 1997. The restaurant, with a long waiting list for reservations, is best known for its delicate bite-sized courses featuring French styles with American influences.
In 2005, he was awarded the three star rating in the inaugural Michelin Guide for New York for his restaurant Per Se, and in 2006, he was awarded three stars in the inaugural Michelin Guide to the Bay Area for The French Laundry. He is the only American chef to have been awarded simultaneous three star Michelin ratings for two different restaurants. (source: Wikipedia)
Much of the food is sourced from local growers, but also from the vegetable garden directly infront of the restaurant. Managed and manicured by horticulturist, Tucker Taylor, the garden features a seamless blend of visual artistry meets functionality. If you can’t afford to dine at the French Laundry, a stroll through the garden is equally fun and satisfying.
