Out of commission

Gah! I apologize for not staying up to date with the writing, but I have been out of commission since last Wednesday since suffering a ruptured ovarian cyst.
For those of you who don’t know what it is, I can liken it to the feeling of having a testicle explode that includes shooting leg, abdominal, pelvic pain and swelling. Not fun! I won’t go into details as far as my symptoms go, but I will tell you have I have been on bedrest for 7 days straight and my appetite is a complete zero (but I haven’t lost any weight!)
Though this is a food & travel site, it definitely inhibits my ability and mobility to move around and get a taste of wine, food and travel. For now and 2 months on, I will be sticking to healthy foods and no alcohol consumption whatsoever. I vow to love my liver! But I think its okay to taste use the spit bucket, right? Just kidding.
A few of my herbal concoctions include beet & carrot juice, aloe vera juice and molasses to break down the cysts. Other foods that I can eat are congee, which is a rice porridge similar to gruel. Yum. I’ve also been working closely with a naturopath doctor to treat me with herbs and natural remedies. I find that Western medication tends to mask the problem instead of address it. Infact, some of my friends say “why don’t you go to the doctor?” and my response is “1) They’re going to put me on morphine, vicodine or some other nasty drug that I don’t care for 2) They want to cut me open and have surgery 3) They want to put me on birth control, which I know doesn’t work because I had cysts while on birth control!” It’s time that I start listening to my body and feed it what it needs. I’m anxious to get to the root of this problem and solve it once and for all.
Anyhow, wish me luck to a speedy recovery. I can’t wait to get traveling again!
xoxo Sonya
