Day One: 30 Days in Napa

Enjoy warm wine country weather on an outdoor patio, a glass of wine and the fine company of friends…

Among the beautiful scenery in Napa, one of the most relaxing things to do is catch up with friends. What better than to enjoy a meal, light appetizers with a glass of bubbling Roederer Brut Rose from Anderson Valley paired with a fresh heirloom tomato salad and meatballs with carmelized mirepoix and tomato marmalade on the outdoor patio of Farmstead Restaurant in St Helena, CA. While you’re at it say hello to Rana, the outdoor staff who will recommend the best flavors and freshest dishes. Around the corner is also Martini House, which has a nice shaded outdoor patio. This place is definitely a favorite for locals and mushroom lovers (try their chef’s mushroom tasting menu). Tra Vigne, in the southern part of St Helena offers a casual environment and extraordinary pizzas.

Outdoor seating at Brix

A bit further north is the Calistoga Inn which boasts its own micro-brewery and live jazz on the patio every night during peak season. Sit back, order a glass of wine and read a book in the homestyle backyard terrace. Had enough of wine? Order a nice chilled beer at Solbar along the Silverado Trail and breathe in the fresh air.

Rutherford Grill along the 29 highway is a bit closer to major attractions and has been serving Napa Valley residents and visitors for over a decade. By the way, their grilled artichoke is to die for. If you’re a fan of outdoor gardens and plush vineyard views, Brix offers good food and wine options with the ultimate mountain view.

Wilfred Jr. at Gott's Roadside. He loved the sweet potato fries.

Casual and laid back is exactly what describes outdoor hangout, Gott’s Roadside. Bring your pooch or let the kids run around onto the grassy lawn while feasting on gourmet burgers and wine or beer.

Whatever your style of entertaining with friends, Napa offers a variety of choices for those who wish to get away from the city.

Healthy food makes a healthy body. Read more on the Editor page.
