Etty’s Wine Pick: La Cadette de Fitere 2009

Vin de Pays wines grown in the region of Armagnac in France are labeled “Cotes de Gascogne” and this clean, aromatic example hails from one of the region’s oldest chateaus. A fresh, juicy blend of Colombard, Ugni Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc, this is round, supple, super aromatic stuff loaded with pretty notes of white nectarine, apricot, and sweet citrus fruit. An awesome deal from the often overlooked southwest section of France and a great weeknight quaffer. Pair with Thai green papaya salad with poached shrimp or grilled chicken skewers glazed with honey, dijon mustard, and rice vinegar.
